How we helped a healthcare provider regain control of its digital marketing
Sector: Healthcare
Services: SEO, Google Ads, Local Search, Website Performance Analysis, Digital Marketing Reporting
After working with six different digital marketing agencies, this healthcare provider came to us frustrated, under-informed, and no closer to the growth it had been promised. Significant budget had been invested in SEO and paid advertising, but there was still no clear visibility on performance, no meaningful increase in footfall, and no confidence in which digital activities were actually driving appointments.
The Challenge
The client’s core problem was not simply weak digital performance. It was a lack of clarity.
They had been investing heavily in SEO and Google Ads for some time, but could not see how that spend translated into real business outcomes. Website traffic data existed in places, ad data existed in places, and agency reports existed in places, but none of it gave the client a clear answer to the questions that mattered most:
Which channels were driving appointment enquiries? Which parts of their online presence had the biggest impact on footfall? Which areas of spend were generating returns, and which were simply absorbing budget?
To make matters worse, their incumbent agency was unresponsive and unwilling to give straight answers. The client felt locked into activity without understanding performance, and was losing confidence in digital marketing as a growth channel.
The Solution
We started by stripping the situation back to fundamentals.
Before making recommendations, we carried out a full review of the client’s search visibility, paid search activity, local search presence, website performance, and reporting setup. The aim was to identify what was helping, what was underperforming, and where the disconnect existed between marketing activity and appointment generation.
From there, we built a strategy focused on three priorities: improve visibility where intent was strongest, make performance measurable in commercial terms, and give the client complete transparency over what was being done and why.
Rather than overwhelm them with jargon or generic agency reporting, we created a clear framework that linked search performance to the outcomes the business actually cared about.
What We Did
We delivered a joined-up programme of digital marketing support tailored to the healthcare sector and the client’s immediate commercial needs.
This included:
- auditing the existing SEO and Google Ads activity to identify wasted spend, missed opportunities, and areas of poor performance
- reviewing website performance and on-page factors that were limiting search visibility and conversion potential
- assessing the client’s Google Business Profile and wider local search presence to understand its influence on footfall and appointment intent
- analysing competitor activity to identify where rival providers were gaining visibility and market share
- improving reporting so the client could clearly see which channels, campaigns, and search themes were contributing to appointments
- prioritising the digital activities most likely to influence real patient demand, rather than vanity metrics such as traffic in isolation
Just as importantly, we gave the client direct, responsive communication and clear answers to their questions, so decision-making became faster and more confident.
Why It Worked
This project worked because we did not treat the symptoms as the problem.
The client did not simply need “better SEO” or “better ads.” They needed to understand the relationship between visibility, demand, and appointments. Once that line of sight was established, it became much easier to identify where budget should be invested, where performance issues were occurring, and which opportunities had the strongest commercial value.
Our cross-channel approach also mattered. In healthcare, appointment growth is rarely driven by one isolated tactic. Organic search, local visibility, paid search, website experience, and trust signals often work together. By looking at the full picture rather than managing channels in silos, we were able to give the client a more accurate view of what was affecting patient acquisition.
<p”>Finally, transparency played a major role. The client had already experienced multiple agency relationships that created confusion rather than clarity. By being responsive, accountable, and explicit about priorities, we rebuilt trust as well as performance.</p”>
The Result
The client moved from uncertainty to control.
Instead of continuing to spend heavily without understanding impact, they gained a clear view of which digital marketing activities were influencing appointments and footfall. They were able to see where their online visibility was strongest, where improvements were needed, and how their budget could be directed more effectively.
Most importantly, they were no longer reliant on vague reporting or evasive agency responses. They had a digital strategy grounded in evidence, aligned to commercial goals, and focused on sustainable growth.
